 The town was founded in the second century BC as a port by the Pergamon king Attalos, who willed it to the Romans after his death in 133 BC. Ruled by the Byzantians, Seljukians and Ottomans successively, contemporary Antalya is one of Turkey's foremost touristic centers thanks to its rich history, bountiful nature and wide beaches. as Aspendos, Phaselis, Olympos, Selge, Perge, Side
and Termessos, in addition to natural wonders like
